Four Easter Verses for Bible Journaling…

The most holy of our holidays is right around the corner.

Easter 01

I’ve been enjoying the last few weeks reading and Bible journaling through a
few of my favorite Easter passages. Grieved by the sorrow of Christ’s suffering
and overwhelmed by the joy of His resurrection… once again… my heart
is filled with awe and wonder and a fresh sense of gratitude for the glorious.

Easter 02

I chose verses that specifically focused on Jesus and the Resurrection
because that’s what Easter really is all about.
No bunnies in this collection… only the cross and the joy of His resurrection.

Easter 03

Spending time reading and Bible Journaling through these passages led me
through an array of emotions as my heart broke all over again watching Jesus
suffer and die for my sins, felt deep sorrow as I stood beside His mom not
able to imagine her pain, and yet so amazingly joyful as I saw Him appear
to the women at the tomb, the two men on the Road to Emmaus and others!

Easter 04

Christ laid down His life so we could have a living hope through faith in Him…
faith in Who He is, what He’s done for us, and who He has called us to be!
So much to celebrate!

Our family celebration will be a relatively small one in numbers this year
but never small in gratitude for what the Lord has done for us
through His great mercy and love!

There are other passages and verses you could choose but for me I chose…

   • Luke chapters 22-24… journaled verse 34
• John chapter 11… journaled verse 25
•1 Corinthians chapter 15…. journaled verses 3,4
•1 Peter chapter 1… journaled verse 3

I hope you will also take some time
to soak in His Word and worship Him through your life…
through music, art, journaling, praying, and giving…
through mothering, mentoring, working… loving and simply living!

Easter 05

I’m thrilled to let you know that the new Easter Bible Journaling designs
are now a new Easter Celebration Bookmark/Bible Journaling Tag Collection!
You can download yours here.

I hope you know how much it blesses me to be able to bless you in this way!

Easter 06

Because you can print as many as you like for personal or ministry use,
consider using them to:

• Tuck in an Easter Basket or lunchbox or snail mail.

• Glue in the margin of your own Journaling Bible or for scrapbooking.

• Give to your Women’s Ministry, Sunday School Class, or Bible Study Group.

• Pass out at your local Retirement or Nursing for a special treat.

Easter 07

And last but not least…
the COLOR YOUR OWN version of the Easter Bible Bookmarks!

Easter 08

I am so excited to tell you that I recently realized you can use
the COLOR YOUR OWN Bible Bookmarks as Bible Journaling
TEMPLATE TRACERS! (I am so smiling right now!)
You may have already known that but I just recently discovered it for myself!

Just slip them under the page you want to journal and trace away!
The great thing is you can choose to trace as much or as little as you like!
Trace only a portion of the art or the whole thing!
Use them to practice your own hand-lettering skills too!

Easter 09

You might think about using the COLOR YOUR OWN version to:

• Tuck in an Easter Basket along with a box of color crayons
or add to a lunchbox or snail mail.

• Color and glue in your own Journaling Bible or use as a Template Tracer
to slip under your Bible page… and simply trace and create.

• Do as a project for your Sunday School Class or Bible Study Group.

• Pass out at your local Retirement or Nursing along with some
candies and crayons for a special treat.

• Invite your friends for a COLOR YOUR OWN Party and then mail
your finished creations to someone in the military or other ministry.

You can find the COLOR YOUR OWN version here.

So whether you art journal or not…
my prayer is that the time you spend in the Word and with the Lord
this Easter season will draw you closer to Him and
fill your heart with overwhelming love, joy and hope eternal!

xoxo
Karla

So excited for this revelation, well double revelation – the new bookmarks and also, the tracing idea. I just bought a new light table, too! And I can add my own flair and doodles and gift them to a few special friends! I have a few in my Etsy cart but was hesitant because I wasn’t sure about the combination of Copics and inkjet. Now I am golden! Grinning from ear to ear, looking forward to coloring later this week. (Hmmmm maybe I will save some to do with my kids at our next weekend getaway?)

God has blessed ♡you♡ to be a blessing, Karla…which you are! I cannot wait to print and color some for myself, but most of all, I cannot wait to share these at a street fair that my church participates in. God bless you!

These are so very beautiful. I have admired your work for several months and these are PERFECT for a project my pastor asked me to create. She wants a mailing for Easter to members who have not been at church recently. There will be an Easter Greeting Card with an enclosure for them to keep (I hope to use your bookmarks) and a simple 2-sided prayer card with a Bible verse on one side and a place for them to write their own prayer request. I want to be sure I have your permission to use your bookmarks (with credits to to) and assume from the above post that I can do it. Thank you and God Bless YOU for sharing your wonderful artist abilities and Christian love with all of us.

I shattered my kneecap in a fall 2 weeks ago so I am supposed to stay off it as much as possible, which is very hard for me! This weekend my daughter brought me a few sets of your bookmarks to color!!! Such a wonderful gift! So she and a granddaughter and I enjoyed the weekend full of coloring your artwork! She also gave me your coloring book for Christmas. She knows what I enjoy!
I love your inspiring artwork, Karla!
    God’s blessings,
    Maria

You are so talented. I can’t draw very good at all, which is why I love that you have the pintables. I would love to get into the bible journaling but alas I will have to stick with the bookmarks!

I posted my 21-Day Challenge update on my blog thi I posted my 21-Day Challenge update on my blog this morning. If you subscribe to my newsletter, it’s in your inbox. If not, and you’re interested, the link to my Substack is in my bio.

It’s been good so far… with one week to go! I’ve learned some things and grown a little but mostly thankful for God’s grace when things don’t go quite the way we’d like them to. I know you can relate.

Obviously the thing I struggled with the most was posting a daily update. I had to be okay with that. God’s grace. Maybe I’ll be more able this week. Maybe not. Love you either way.

God’s blessings my friends… xoxo
Yesterday… Friday… was day 6 of the 21 Day Cha Yesterday… Friday… was day 6 of the 21 Day Challenge I’m doing with my daughter... @michelleallenart

I’ve been spending way more than 20 minutes in my art journal and I’m not sure if that’s good or bad! Haha! But I finished these two pages… with Tilly’s help… so that felt good. So much I could share on this verse but maybe another time.

I had a request to share my food so… I had a cheese omelet with salsa for breakfast and this yummy salad for dinner with popcorn and almonds for a snack. The salad is spinach, arugula, garbanzo beans, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, green onion, chicken meatballs, and cottage cheese. So good.

Moving is still my challenge. 😩 Saw the podiatrist and have an MRI scheduled for next week. I’m sure it’s just precautionary as I have some pain he says I shouldn’t be having. Pray it heals before next Thursday. 🤪

And just for fun… this little Gila Woodpecker came to visit this morning. Can you see his little red crown? So cute.

After 5 days… I would have to say it’s been mo After 5 days… I would have to say it’s been most encouraging with the art journaling and vitamins.

Before I would walk by my open journal and my little dish of vits and ignore both of them… now I am disciplining myself to do both. Hopefully they will just become daily habits.

The most difficult has been the moving. I was hoping for better progress with my ankle but I go to the podiatrist today to see what he says. I’ll let you know. I even went to a store to walk yesterday as it’s still too hot but it was slow going.

Yesterday was Day 4 (Wednesday) of my 21 Day Challenge… and I’m still here! Woohoo!

Since finishing the 21 Day Challenge List journal pages… I went back and worked on this one. I started it two or three weeks ago so I’m happy to be back to it. I’ll share more on that later but… can you guess the passage and verse that inspired me?

The challenge has been encouraging for me. Accountability helps. So far… so good.

Hello my friends… Yesterday was Day 3 (Tuesday) Hello my friends…

Yesterday was Day 3 (Tuesday) of my 21 Day Challenge. It was a full day!

Bible study in the morning… and then… I finally made it to the grocery store!! Yay! My cart was mostly produce and dairy, but with the little extras… somehow the total still came to $115! But no complaints… it was so good to have a healthy salad for dinner and I can stretch that grocery haul out for a quite a long while. Thank You Lord!

In all honesty… I was a little frustrated with the art journaling page I was working on so I put it off until the very end of the day… but I did it. It made me realize that’s one big reason I started this 21-Day Challenge. Discipline isn’t just about doing what comes easily. Sometimes it’s choosing to do the hard thing even when we don’t feel like it. I ended up spending way more than twenty minutes playing… even though I really just wanted to go to bed. Progress over perfection, right? Haha! And I’m done with it… I think!

And though my ankle was still throbbing by bedtime, it never swelled. I’ll call that a win. Another day of small steps… and another reminder that God often grows us one faithful choice at a time. Amen?

Day 3… Tuesday

✅ God Time: Isaiah 28

✅ Write One Hour: Journal & Post

✅ Art Journal: Added more color and details… I want to learn not to overthink things.

✅ Vitamins: did it! Yay!

✅ Eat Clean: Egg with cheese on half a homemade muffin (thank you Michelle) for breakfast. So good. Amazing salad for dinner. Cashews and almonds for a snack.

✅ PT/Walk: 2555 steps… mostly from walking through the grocery store… and a 20 minute wall workout for posture and strengthening my back.

✅ Water: Yes.

✅ Duolingo: Yes! Slow but sure!

It was a good day. Thank You, Lord.

How about you? Every day I’m reminding myself… whatever we do today… whether a challenge or simply living life… do it as unto the Lord… for His glory… our good… and the blessing of others. Amen? Amen! ❤️
Hello my friends… Here’s my 21 Day Challenge Hello my friends…

Here’s my 21 Day Challenge Update… Day 2 (Monday)

Not as easy as Day 1… already! Oh my goodness! But… I’m not quitting!

The highlight was… to my surprise… playing in my art journal with watercolors! Have not used watercolors in years. It was not a big deal really… but it was fun.

The most challenging was… my food choices. My oatmeal breakfast was so heavy on carbs… which I didn’t think about while making it… but my body overreacted and I crashed big time. Wiped me out for hours. No fun. Big lesson learned.

My goal in eating healthier is not about weight but to reduce inflammation which will hopefully impact my chronic pain level so I can become more active again. I’ll keep you posted on how that goes!

Day 2… Monday

✅ God Time: Isaiah 28… amazing!

✅ Write One Hour: Journal & Post

✅ Art Journal: Added more color with a watercolor set I’ve never used before. Just trying something new felt good. Thank You Lord.

✅ Vitamins: did it!

✅ Eat Clean: It was clean… but now to focus on less carbs… more protein! Yikes! 😂

✅ PT/Walk: 1,783 steps. But my ankle swelled big time just from being up and busy so… no walk-walking quite yet. Plus it was 109 degrees outside! But yes to physical therapy.

✅ Water: Yes.

✅ Duolingo: Yes! At the last minute… but yes!

Still calling the day a win. Thank You, Lord.

How about you? Whatever you do today… whether a challenge or simply living life… do it as unto the Lord… for His glory… your good… and the blessing of others. Amen? Amen! ❤️
21 Day Challenge… Day 1 (Sunday) In all honesty 21 Day Challenge… Day 1 (Sunday)

In all honesty… I’m really looking forward to these next three weeks!

I’ve spent most of the last few weeks sedentary while giving my fractured ankle time to heal. It has definitely paid off… but it has also left me feeling weak and weary. I’ve needed this fresh start.

I’m excited to see how… or even if… this new commitment to the Lord will transforms my life… or any part of it. Or will it? Obviously, nothing changes overnight. But what has changed is a renewed sense of joyful expectation in what God might do through it.

I truly believe these eight disciplines were prompted by the Lord… so here we go! And if you’re doing your own 21 Day Challenge… I’m praying for you too.

Day 1… Sunday
✅ God Time: Church covered that one nicely.

✅ Write One Hour: I finished today’s newsletter.

✅ Art Journal: Thirty minutes flew by! I added more details and began adding color to my 21 Day Challenge page.

✅ Vitamins: I’ve decided to stop arguing with myself and simply take them right after breakfast.

✅ Eat Clean: Well… this one was a little complicated. 😂

I had planned to grocery shop after church, but because I stood through worship and couldn’t elevate my foot afterward, it became swollen and achy. Since I hadn’t shopped since my ankle accident—and the meals my family had lovingly brought me were long gone—my cupboards were pretty much bare of anything fresh.

So... oatmeal with the last of the yogurt for a late breakfast, peanut butter toast for dinner, and popcorn, almonds, and a protein coffee for snacks. But it was all clean! Haha! 😄

The good news? I’m headed to the grocery store today! Woohoo!

✅ PT/Walk: 1,893 steps… thanks to church… and yes to physical therapy.

✅ Water: Yes.

✅ Duolingo: Yes! (For those wondering, Duolingo is a language-learning app. More on that another day.)

As with most challenges… Day One was a success. Thank You, Lord.

How about you? Did you join the challenge… or is there just one small thing you’re trying to be more intentional about? I’d love to hear about it. ❤️
Hello my friends! I’ve missed you! My sweet dau Hello my friends! I’ve missed you!

My sweet daughter, @michelleallenart, invited me to join her in a Simple 21-Day Challenge… and how could I say no? Right?

So… I chose eight things I believe God has been nudging me to be more intentional about. I made a list and committed to doing them… as unto the Lord… for the next 21 days. A couple feed my spirit. Four will hopefully strengthen my body. And the creative ones will nurture my soul.

I don’t know where the next 21 days will lead… or how well I do… but that’s okay. God knows so I’m going to trust Him. I’ll share a little update here every day and we’ll see what happens. I hope you’ll make your own list and come along with me.

My list includes:

✨ God Time — One hour. I want to be more intentional about studying God’s Word and spending time in prayer.

✨ Write — One hour. I want to grow as a writer.

✨ Art Journal — 20–30 minutes. This is where I’ll probably struggle. I can go days without creating art at all. I’m not sure why… but I hear it calling my name again.

✨ Vitamins. I still don’t know how I can walk past them a hundred times and forget to take them!

✨ Eat Clean. I need to be kinder to my body.

✨ PT/Walk. My fractured ankle downtime has made me weak… and yes… a little lazy.

✨ Water — 60+ ounces. It’s Arizona!

✨ Duolingo. Every day. I’m excited to tell you about that one later.

So… what would you put on your list? I’d love to hear! Leave a comment and let’s encourage each other. What is God calling you to be more intentional about?

See you tomorrow! ❤️

Oh… and be sure to check out Michelle’s list too… @michelleallenart. She’s such an inspiration. I know you’ll love her
Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! That’s all I could cry as o Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! That’s all I could cry as our pickup lost control on an icy freeway going downhill! In this week’s newsletter I told the story of God’s amazing protection and how things ended up at the bottom of the hill. You can read it for yourself with the link in my bio.

I didn’t put paint on a canvas this week but… just for fun…I did on rocks! I’m thinking about placing them along the way on my walks. Might brighten someone’s day. What do you think?

Sunday, after church, I went to a community art event with my daughter @michelleallenart and her friend Tracy @tracybrownart at the @4thavecoaltion space downtown Tucson. It was more fun than I even expected. It was kinda like speed dating so you were always drawing someone new across the table. I loved this one of me drawn by a lovely woman named Josephine.

And for your featured birds of the week…

I was literally shocked to see this roadrunner perched on the table… he’s soooo big and beautiful!!

And this juvenile cardinal took me by surprise! I love his multi-colored coat! Reminds me of Joseph and his coat of many colors, right?

And a few finches for fun.

And last but not least… Tilly says HELLO!! ❤️❤️❤️

Until next time… xoxo
Karla
God spoke to my heart… “Stop arguing with him… and trust Me.” That was one of the lessons I learned when Michael was determined we were moving out to the bush in Alaska. Thankfully God a different plan! I shared that God story in this morning’s newsletter… a fun reminder that our God is sovereign… even over other people’s decisions and circumstances beyond our control.

I’ve given up on the 100 Day Project and it’s okay. But… I did finish this painting! It’s 11x14 acrylic on canvas. What do you think?

It was such a joy to drive to Casa Grande to meet up with a friend from Vancouver. Bev has been such a huge blessing to me over the years and we had such a great time catching up!!

So I asked the woman at the @wildbirdstoretucson if there was something that would attract quail and cardinals to my courtyard. I came home with a quail block and it did not disappoint! I was so surprised to see, not only mom and dad quail, but their baby too! Soooooo cute.

And… my first ever ladder back woodpecker! Mom and dad ladder back also brought their baby but I couldn’t get a good photo.

So how about you? Any birders out there? They are quite amazing, aren’t they?

Until next time… xoxo
Karla
