In the Studio… Bible Journaling Inspired Painting

My studio has been a busy place and I’m LOVING it!

Soul Magnifies the Lord 1

I have really been enjoying Bible Journaling these last few weeks and the designs that have flowed out of this creative and reflective time spent with the Lord have not only deeply spoken to my heart but also inspired me to transform one of these designs into a painting on canvas!

Soul Magnifies the Lord 2

The above Bible page was my inspiration…

Soul Magnifies the Lord 3

and I LOVE how it turned out… including the scallops along the sides!

Soul Magnifies the Lord 4

The painting measures 8″x24″ so will be a bit of challenge to offer as a frameable print but am hoping to have some mounted prints in the days to come if anyone is interested.

xoxo
Karla

Love the talent that God has blessed you with! Your heart is full of love for Him and His word. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts. I help at a church making crafts to sell at a church craft fair and all the proceeds go to missionary. How can I get permission to use your prints to make book marks?

I’ve been reading some sappy quotes about ‘love’ and realizing that that kind of romantic affection is not the Love of 1 Corinthians 13. THAT Love is an action, a decision, a commitment. I couldn’t agree more that it is worth more than flowers that wilt and chocolate that ends up on the thighs. My hubby’s Valentine sport is to find a card and write a message in it that will make me cry. That is not hard to do. But I do have 25 years of sincere messages of love to hold on to for the other 364 days of the year! <3

Been a long time since we’ve ‘talked’. I was briefly in Vancouver in September for Chuck’s Memorial Service there after the one here in July. Then a few days at Christmas with my kids. But life has been free on another level and God has been opening some amazing doors and doing some incredible stuff! would love to sit and talk over T! Think of you soooo often and so happy to still get your wonderful talent – such a pleasure to look at and give as gifts. God has done amazing things in and thro you and so glad we met.xoxox

I do love your designs. I was wondering if you have any bookmarks that have a verse/verses from I John at all? I’m leading a Bible study with 30 women, and would love to bless them with a bookmark with your art work at the end of the study. If not, I’ll go ahead with the Luke 1-4 ones, but figured I’d ask.

Love that you had to put someone else down in order to feel better about yourself and your circumstances. Couldn’t just be happy for the young lady that her husband was finally doing something nice for her? You felt bad about your marriage and the only way to feel better about it was to compare with a worse one, good for you!
Reminder, it is a commandment not to covert your neighbor. Instead of repenting for being jealous, you blindly thanked God for letting you “not be like her”. Hard to show love to someone when you’re busy being jealous and judge-y of them.

So my daughter… @michelleallenart is the one who So my daughter… @michelleallenart is the one who encouraged me to do this challenge… and she is beyond day 33. Me… day 17! The days just go by so quickly and… to be honest… there’s been days I’ve just made excuses not to go to the studio because I’m not happy with what I’m painting and I’ve been frustrated. However… I know God has a plan here so I’m not giving up… so stay tuned.

Love you my friends for your encouragement!

I pruned my lantana shrubs a few days ago and tuck I pruned my lantana shrubs a few days ago and tucked a few of the trimmings in this adorable little vase and couldn’t resist trying to paint them.

I also discovered that lantanas symbolize fierce love and wild energy! Oh goodness… wild energy seems so long ago! Haha! But what joy is ours when we are fiercely in love with the Lord! Amen?

Hmmm… I was thinking about adding a pattern to the tablecloth but maybe a verse about love would be better. Any suggestions?

My pomegranate tree has more flowers this year tha My pomegranate tree has more flowers this year than last, and I’m praying a few of the blossoms hold on and actually develop into fruit! Made me think of how God looks at us… wanting us to hold on to Him in faith so that we too can bear fruit… for His glory. Inspired by Jesus’ fig tree parable in Luke 13 if you want to go check it out.

And who knew there were pomegranate songs? Haha!

Did you know that when Jesus was talking about the Did you know that when Jesus was talking about the “lilies of the field” in Luke 12… He was most likely directing their gaze to the rivers of scarlet poppies blooming on the hillside nearby? Of course, since I’m presently painting florals, I couldn’t resist the poppy.

I shared more about God’s encouragement through this passage in my newsletter last Monday if you’re interested. (Link in bio)

My 100 Day Project was rudely interrupted last wee My 100 Day Project was rudely interrupted last week by a nasty little bug that rendered me worthless on every level! However… I’m better and back it!

This one is 16x20 and because I wrote my own rules and count a day… not by a painting finished… but by days spent in the studio…it represents days 11, 12, and 13. I must admit… I’m enjoying this challenge more than I expected. Yay and thank You Lord.

I know I’m not following all the rules but havin I know I’m not following all the rules but having this nudge to get out in the studio and just paint whatever feels good. Even though I do see some designs that might be nice for notecards, that’s not my reason for doing this.

I want to play and maybe find my new style that fits with this new season of my life. Even at 74 yo, it’s never too late to learn something new and it’s okay to just play. True?

Curious… are you learning something new today?
